“Poured in Place” Playground Surfacing

GPI Outdoor Designs has been manufacturing its own special blend of “poured in place” recycled rubber protective surfacing beneath Alberta playgrounds for the past 17 years.

It has been our pleasure to work with school boards, municipal and provincial governments, day care centers, and countless volunteer groups on their playground projects, many specifically requesting GPI’s surfacing beneath their playground equipment because of our unparalleled expertise in the field and attention to quality workmanship.

Made with recycled Alberta rubber, GPI’s proprietary blend of “poured in place” rubber safety surfacing is an ideal alternative for your next playground project.

Our “PlayTurf”  poured in place rubber surfacing is constructed of recycled Alberta tire granules, man-made pigmented particles (if you choose to add colour to your project) and a highly sophisticated polyurethane resin. These ingredients are blended on site and trowel applied providing a beautiful continuous cushioned safety surface.

The poured in place rubber safety surfacing offers tremendous advantages over conventional playground surfaces such as pea gravel, sand or wood fiber. And, unlike rubber tiles, the poured in place surfacing “stays put” since it is one continuous piece of rubber.

Poured in Place Rubber Surfacing….

  • Is porous so it will not allow water to pond.
  • Is much cleaner than most alternatives. It doesn’t fill your child’s shoes, your home or your school like “loose fill” surfacing can do.
  • The shock absorbing ability is unaffected by extreme heat and cold so no matter the temperature, the poured in place rubber surfacing will provide a safe surface.
  • Is available in many different colors and can be applied in graphical forms. The only limitation is one’s own creativity.
  • Is compliant with the “American’s with Disabilities Act” (ADA) guidelines and is recognized for providing those with disabilities with the ability to gain access to the play surface.
  • Has been tested fully under the guidelines of ASTM F1292 and “head injury criterion” (HIC).
